Got up on the wrong side of the bed?

Anyone who knows me well knows how cranky I can be when I get up on the “wrong” side of the bed. I usually say “I’m just in a bad mood. I woke up this way and I have no idea what to do about it.” I never saw that I could change this. It’s incredible when something finally gets clear, after seeing it one way for so long. It’s so freeing when you discover your personal power.

How to Get Up on the Right Side of the Bed
When you start your day off feeling good and optimistic, you’ve got a much better chance of having an awesome day.

On the other hand when you’ve got that “I got up on the wrong side of the bed” thought looping through your mind all morning, you’re gonna attract trouble. I know you’ve been there. First you get toothpaste on your clean shirt. You burn your tongue on a hot cup of coffee while you rush for the train as it pulls away. You get into work half an hour late and your boss is waiting for you. The day just keeps getting crappier.

Try a new thought. Here’s a beautiful affirmation I found just a few days ago.

Every morning I remind myself that I can make the choice to feel good. This is a new habit for me to cultivate.

Use the snooze.
I have come to rely on my snooze button as I would a good friend. Set your alarm a little earlier to leave time for the snooze. If at first you wake up cranky, hit the snooze and get an instant do-over. But don’t just smack the clock and roll over. Consciously hit the snooze for a second chance at a good morning. If you notice negative self-talk pops into your head as soon as you open your eyes, catch yourself, hit the snooze and prepare to be positive when the alarm sounds again.

Having struggled on the “wrong” side of my bed most of my life, I have lots of tips on this subject so get on my mailing list so you don’t miss them (there’s another freebie in it for you too).
