- Reduce caffeine. A daily reliance on caffeine from tea, coffee, cola and energy drinks causes dehydration and blood sugar swings, making sugar cravings more frequent. Try caffeine-free herbal teas, herbal coffee alternatives like Teeccino, diluted fruit juices and vegetable juice.
- Stop drinking sugar. This change alone can make a huge difference to your health. Many people don’t realize the tremendous amount of sugar their soda, blended coffee drinks and juice indulgences contain. One 20-oz bottle of soda contains over 64 grams of sugar, or 16 teaspoons. That’s 16 sugar packets in one bottle of cola! One popular energy drink provides a damaging jolt of caffeine along with 54 grams of sugar in a 16-oz can. Check the ingredients and grams of sugar on the label and cut back. Also aim to reduce alcohol consumption and dilute juices with water or drink naturally flavored water instead.
